I'm on the 219.x.x.x connection and it's pretty laggy. A friend of mine using 218.x.x.x reports no issues with his net connection=(
At night the connection is VERY bad! Guess what, a 30 minutes talk with the tech support lady and she won't even open a report for me. What nerve! Here's the gist of the conversation:
1) She admits that she doesn't know anything about the 'technicalities' (it was like...duh. I was talking about high latencies to internation sites and she still asked me if my browsing was slow)
2) She made me do the entire 'procedure' (streamyx callers will know what I mean) with the promise that she'll file a report if it doesn't solve it. Obviously, it didn't
3) Her reason for not making a report was that the xpeedometer reading was normal. She can't seem to get the idea that FTP brickfields is IN MALAYSIA!
4) At the end, she was kinda rude too. Talk about adding insult to injury, sheesh...
I'm darn frustrated now. Where's Jaring's rumored broadband service (not the wireless bb) when we need it? Any idea when Jaring will launch it?

Yeah, its farking irritating to call the tech support, those as$hole knows nothing, always use the same procedure. Wont proceed unless you follow what hes telling you to do like create a new connection, restart yr pc and the best one i get was, "please try to disconnect your phone and use direct connect, i will wait here.." those retarded mutherfcker really a genius! farkingtmnutz peoples! Calling em already not free, still have to wait for those morons to answer and listen to their stupid stuff! not to be racist, i found most indian tech support there are really reluctant to open a report for you and are very rude!

Jaring already had ADSL service, but only for certain areas

I heard that Jaring BB is worse. Anyway, when I call them up I always say this. "Look, I've already done all the procedures and if you do not believe me check my past records as I've even spoken to your manager, and I dont wanna waiste anymore time." And then they let me skip everything and file a report ^^ But then, nothing gets done anyway :/
The list of things they asked me to do so far, from all my calls.
Reconnect
DC and make a direct connection, dont use a router
Try with a new modem
Try with a new router
Bring your friends com to your house and try (including modem and router)
Bring your com to your friends house and try (including modem and router)
Delete your cookies
Format your PC
Flush your DNS
Turn off all your firewalls
Pluck out your phone line and wait for 5 minutes, then pluck it back and try again. If that doesnt work, do this on your router and modem
Theres still more but I cant remember, couldnt be bothered anymore after I quit WoW due to frustration. But as you can see most of it are retarded. Make your own list too? Would really like to see how idiotic Streamyx can get.

69 pages aledi and growing. SO many complains and yet nothing done. Have you guys ever run a help desk center? There are tons of stupid questions and tons of legitimate questions.
I've made a few calls to TM also and like you said, the routine they ask you to do is ridiculously for people who know nuts about networking and the persons asking you to do also know nuts about them.
Anyway if it counts, i don;t have any complains on my streamyx for the past 4 months so I'm good with TM.

I won't deny it
The 'good ping' lasted till 7-8am. After that, it spiked up to 900ms again

If this continues, I'm going to Clickers subang this weekend to have a long Q&A session with the staffers. Obviously talking with the tech support lady won't help.
Anyway, did you guys notice the path taken when using tracert? If I'm not wrong, www.cnn.com used to go thru alter.net, now it's san jose, LA. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the latency issues, but sites like www.palminfocenter.com that go thru alter.net doesn't suffer any high pings.

For the past 8 weeks, I've been having crawling-speed with my Streamyx (never reach over 30kB/s) when I surf international sites (inc. downloading files) eventhough TMnet's own speedometer always give me around 99kB/s. I never wanted to call up the hotline to make a report 'cuz it had always wasted my time. But 2 nights ago, I just could not take this problem anymore and decided to phone them. The guy on the line asked me to test my Streamyx with Speedometer and of course, I lied to him that it could only go up to 25kB/s ('cuz that's what I always get from international test sites). So, he made a report for me. Surprisingly, a technician called me up just now and asked me if my browsing/surfing is still slow. I pretended to test it with TMnet's Speedometer and he said "No, don't use that Speedometer 'cuz it doesn't help much..". LOL! Then, he asked me to look into my modem console and I found out that he changed my download speed from 1024kbps to 512kbps !! I asked him why and he said "I have to reconfigure your port back to default and will change your old port to a new port in 24 hour". I was like, "uh... ok. So, will I get back my 1mb connection?" and he replied yes. He gave me his number and asked me to contact him if I still face the same problem tomorrow evening.
I wonder why changing port will help my Streamyx speed improve. My transfer rate now can only go up to 15kB/s... I hope he knows what he is doing!

you gotta hand it over to these jokers, TMnet is seriously trying to make us laugh....

Aiyo, streamyx.... Haih, I am encountering crawling speed today and I cannot even complete most downloads from international sites. When there is a connection problem, they will only call me to restart my modem and reconnect 5 minutes later. I personally feel that they are not so trained to assists the customers to solve a problem. It's better and faster if I identify and solve the problem myself.

what about 218 ip range, is it stable or not, it mainly for enterprise and corporate.
Reis
Oct 6 2005, 10:52 PM
I've heard this a few times but why is 218 mainly for enterprise and corporate? Was it stated by Streamyx? Would like to know cuz from my observation on the people around me, those that had 219 was the early birds like myself, then they ran outta ports. After that when 218 came out they all got it, including the new suscribers at that time. I'm still clueless about what port 3 and port 4 serve as, but much later on when the 60 range came out, everyone got dumped there.
Again, everyone that I know thats using 218, got their Streamyx about the same time, so I think that its all based on when you suscribe. The fact that every new suscribers are only getting the 60 range is further backing up this point. Well all in all only 218 is tolerable, the rest are just doomed to oblivion
